Roads going beyond the horizon, faraway bonfires paint the sky on earth with flickers that look like stars.
The Orphan Brigade – Heart of the cave. Beautiful collection of Americana, punctuated by gospel fits and folk sparkles, recorded in a cave. The centre of the Earth has a throbbing heart!
Weedpecker – III. Woodpecker have a very interesting take on music, verging between stoner and shoegaze with very colourful and hues riddled sounds to back the heaviness of the two genres.
Grajo – Slow God II. Massive stonerdoom counterposed by a melodic female vocalist.
Bardo Pond - Volume 8. The gotha of lysergic music, musical suites that are terrific colourful trips with the flute often drowning in an ocean of distortion.
Rome – Hall of Thatch. Dark apocalyptic and classy folk.
Kirlian Camera – Hologram Moon. Heartbreakingly romantic and timeless Electro Dark. Do ot miss the opportunity to discover or descover them again.
Ghostpoet – Dark Days. The attitude reminds of Nick Cave and Bad Seeds. Dark, tense and urban.
Steep Canyon Rangers – Out in the Open. Band’s name and album’s title say it all. Minstrels excited by outdoor spaces, prairies and rivers to wade through to go home.
Loma – Loma. Classy, dark and essential with sparkles of great emotional intensity
Andrea Van Cleef – Tropic of Nowhere. Andrea (Humulus) has this new album out, beautiful and eclectic, difficult to pidgeonhole into a specific genre yet reminiscent of Americana and indie. Definitely very different from whatever he has produced so far both with Humulus or as a solo artist. The cover of Paranoid by Black Sabbath is a true gem of beauty.
The Hanging Stars – songs for Somewhere Else. Pleasant rural-psychedelic album, roll a spliff and get lost in Iowa’s cornfields.
The Low Anthem – The Salt Doll Went To Measure The Depth Of The Sea. I always liked them , they are able to write good songs in between Americana, folk and altpop. This new album doesn’t add nor takes anything away. It’s always nice to listen to them.
Mary Gauthier – Rifles & Rosary Beads. Beautiful ballads performed intensely as if they were prayers. If you like Americana, she’s the one.
Superdownhome –Rural blues duo who we are very happy to host this summer for a gig, their songs are a dusty road that ends nowhere.
