Dark, winter sounds to listen to by the fireplace, drinking some absinth while outside, the night makes love with the devil.

Electric Eye – From the poisonous tree. A classy album crossing over jazz, psychedelia and prog. A little too much for me, but these boys are truly talented and deserve a good listening

Ben Seretan – Plate of pits. Deeper and less psycho-ecstatic compared to the Ben we got to love as a musician and human being.

Belle Adair – Tuscumbia. Soft, light and classy, this is a pop album to play when you’re in nice company. Like, if you’re with friends and put on Primitive Man, they would run a mile regardless of the level of friendhip, while with Belle Adair, the worst that can happen is that they will like them.

Deadneck – Levitation. Undertoned blues slaps that draw you into a black hole from which you can oly come out speechless and high.

I, Captain – Tiid. Space stoner sound spreading into galaxy with some hues of ancient pagan rituals

Hypnotic Brass Ensemble – Book of sound – Book of sound. The title speaks for itself: hypnotic music performed almost exclusively by brass. A comfy trip to enjoy on your favourite sofa.

Igorrr – Savage Sinusoid. Black Metal audience and Black Metal wrapping. This album is full with a lot of other stuff: opera, Balkan music, electro-techno and more. Listening to it will bring probably more pain than pleasure: remarkable.

Jim Jones & The Righteous Mind – Super Natural. Rowdy rock’n’roll on the verge of lasciviousness.

Calexico – The Thread that keep us. It’s quite rare finding a band able to produce good music and live gigs, after many albums and reasonable success. With this latest one, Calexico prove they can do both. Nothing too exciting but not bad at all.

Black Rebel Motorcycle Club – Wrong Creatures. Different group, different style yet there are some similarities, only some though as with this album, BRMC go back to the greatness of their very first. No more off the rail sounds yet BRMC are ageing just find, writing beautiful songs reminiscing of Jesus and Mary Chain.

Shovels & Rope – Busted Jukebox vol.2 In truth, this is an album of covers. The tracks’ selection is seriously hot, the way they are re-interpreted too. It’s a great opportunity to get to know them if you don’t already and to listen again to great songs

Violent Femmes – 2 mics & the truth. The bands most known songs played live in a way they only could play them. A great throwback that’s still here

Les Filles de Illighadad – Eghass Malan. Gloomy and complex sounds tainted, here and there, by the beautiful simplicity of tribal echoes, that almost acts as a ray of sun in the storm

Kayleth – Colossus. Great space stoner band that we can’t wait to see live herein Cascina Bellaria next summer.

Hela – Death May Die. Spanish doom metal with female vocals. A hazy listening to end this month’s reviews.
